Woodland

Surrey is England’s most wooded county with some 22% of the land under woodland cover. This gives many advantages: a beautiful and distinctive landscape creating an attractive environment for people and businesses, rich in wildlife, recreational and health benefits and many opportunities for economic activity. But there are many issues including loss of ancient woodland, significant trees and biodiversity, a serious lack of appropriate management and management skills and much economic potential being unrealised.
